Many years later, during the Ottoman invasion, these temples became havens for Hellenic culture, it was there that they became the center of artistic and academic life.

Unfortunately, of several of these temples today only ruins remain because they were bombed in the Second World War, as they served as shelters. However, you can still enter several of those that are still standing today.
