POROS FROM ATHENS

Early in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel or the appointed meeting point and transfer you to Piraeus Port. Your assistant will give you all the necessary information about the excursion and answer any questions you might have.

At Piraeus port, you will board the fast ferry that will take you directly to the island of Poros. This paradise island is a place of ancient legends and is regarded as the island of Poseidon. In reality, seeing the beauty of its beaches, you can understand that the Island of Poros (or Pogon Island, as it was known in antiquity) is an absolute wonder of nature, a corner in the Saronic Gulf, which is an exuberant paradise, full of vegetation and crystalline waters.

The capital of this small island, Poros, has a large number of neoclassical buildings that were built amphitheatrically on the side of a mountain. Cobblestoned streets and white houses with red roofs and wooden balconies, all adorned, with pots full of flowers, colors, and scents.

There are many interesting things to do in Poros. For example, you can visit the archaeological museum, founded in 1960 and located in Korizi Square, or the Poros Sea Shell Museum. The church of Agios Georgios, a tiny but charming church full of wall paintings of contemporary Greek artists, is worth a visit.

Moreover, there is the famous Clock Tower built in 1922 at the top of the hill. This Tower is the most photographed attraction on the island.

Last but not least, another option is a visit to the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, 4 kilometers away from the capital, as well as Villa Galini, which is one of the most beautiful buildings, famous for having hosted Henry Miller and the Greek poet Giorgos Seferis among others.

At the agreed time, you will return to Poros port for your ferry back to Piraeus, where the tour ends.
