      Hotel pickup

      The tour does not include pick-up and drop off from/to the hotels in Thessaloniki city center. Upon reservation, we will send you the train tickets.

      The departure is from Thessaloniki Central Train Station (Monastiriou) at 08:15 hours, we advise to arrive 30 minutes prior train departure.

      Approximate duration and dates

      This is full-day excursion (approximately department at 08:15 - return at 20:30 hours). Every day all year around.

      Reservations can only be paid by credit card via our website.

      Cancellations

      Full Refund for the guided tour for cancellations at least 72 hours in advance. The train tickets sent are not refundable.

      For cancellations or modifications later than 72 hours prior to departure, 100% of the total cost will be applied as cancellation fees.

      Verification - Voucher

      Once the reservation is made you will receive an email with your reservation number and the train tickets. Vouchers are not essential for this tour. The train tickets are needed to be printed to board the trains.

      Accommodation
      Excursion Itinerary: Meteora by train from thessaloniki

      The trip will start at 07:15 in the morning from the Thessaloniki train station (Monastiriou Street) to Kalambaka (Meteora). On this tour, in which you will travel on your own, there will be a train connection at Paleo Farsalo. 

      At around 11:40 hours, passing by the beautiful Greek countryside, the train will arrive at Kalambaka station, where your guide will be waiting with a sign displaying your name. 

      The tour will take place in a minibus, and together with your guide, you will take in the breathtaking views and the imposing atmosphere of the monasteries. You will visit the hermitage caves of Badova and two monasteries, while you will also make regular stops at the best vantage points to take photos of the incredible scenery.

      At the agreed time, you will be transferred back to Kalambaka train station for your return trip to Thessaloniki, changing first at Paleo Farsalo.

      The train leaves at 17:30 hours, so you will have more than an hour's free time to walk around the town center and enjoy a snack and a drink. You will arrive in Thessaloniki at around 20:30 hours.

      Dress code in the monasteries: sleeveless shirts and shorts above the knee are forbidden for men. For women, you will have your available skirts and shawls, in case you don't have clothes to cover yourself.

      Greca Tip: Visit Kalambaka's old picturesque district and buy religious icons, and hand-made wood-carved objects as well as try the local homemade pies.
