COVID-19 Requirements to Travel to Turkey
Turkey has opened its doors to travelers from all over the world, and it is a country that has recently relaxed its regulations in the fight against COVID-19. There are some security measures to take into account both for travel and for moving within the country, which we will mention below.
The Turkish Ministry of Health establishes the following rules and requirements for the entry of travelers to the country, which will be applied as of March 3, 2022:
- To enter the country by air, passengers must have at least two doses of the vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, with 14 days completed after the last dose.
- Passengers who present a complete, valid vaccination certificate against COVID-19 will be exempt from pre-trip testing requirements.
- People who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from testing and can demonstrate a positive antigen result or a PCR test taken from 28 and no more than 180 days prior to arrival at the destination.
- An entry form must be filled out within 72 hours before departure, in digital or paper form, and must be presented before boarding. All passengers are subject to random testing upon arrival at airports in Turkish territory, following the instructions of health officials.
- Quarantine will not be applied to those who present an official document or a negative PCR result (taken within the last 72 hours) or a negative antigen test (taken within the last 48 hours).
- Passengers on domestic flights will not be required to take a PCR test or enter a HES code (Hayat Eve Sar)*.
- In places where social distancing and open areas can be used, the use of the mask is not mandatory, as long as there is adequate ventilation. In places such as schools, hospitals, cinemas, theaters and public means of transport (metros, buses, minibuses, ships and planes) the use of the mask remains mandatory.
* The Hayat Eve Sığar (HES) is used to track the places you have visited in case of positive contact, and is obtained by filling out a form.
Unvaccinated passengers must present a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to travel. Alternatively, an antigen test taken within the previous 24 hours is also accepted.
